Uninsured motorist coverage pays for any injuries and damage
caused by a hit-and-run driver or a driver without auto insurance.
Most states require that you carry uninsured motorist coverage.
Like uninsured motorist coverage, underinsured motorist coverage
will pay for injuries or damages caused by a driver with
less-than-enough coverage.
It is wise to carry at least a minimal amount of UM/UIM coverage,
just in case. You want to be sure that you have some coverage for
pain-and-suffering, if nothing else.
